Privacy Policy — ImagePress

Effective Date: May 21, 2025  •  Last Updated: May 21, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how ImagePress ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our Android application. We are committed to transparency and to handling your data responsibly. Please read this policy carefully before using the app.
1

About ImagePress

ImagePress is an Android utility app that offers the following features:

  • Single image compression — reduce file size of individual photos
  • Bulk image compression — compress multiple images in one operation
  • Image to PDF conversion — combine images into a PDF document
  • Free tier — supported by rewarded and interstitial advertisements
  • Premium subscription — ₹99/month or ₹199/year, removes ads and unlocks advanced options

All image processing is performed entirely on your device. Your photos are never uploaded to our servers.

2

Information We Collect

2.1  Images and Files

ImagePress requests access to images stored on your device for the sole purpose of compression and PDF conversion. We do not copy, upload, or transmit your photos to any remote server. Processed output files are saved directly to your device storage.

Your images stay on your device at all times and are never sent to us or any third party.

2.2  Local App Data

To provide a history and preferences experience, the app stores the following information in a local on-device database (Room / SQLite):

  • File names of processed images
  • Original and compressed file sizes
  • Timestamp of each operation
  • App preferences and settings you configure

This data exists only on your device and is never transmitted externally.

2.3  Crash and Diagnostic Data (Firebase Crashlytics)

We use Google Firebase Crashlytics to automatically collect crash reports when the app encounters an error. This helps us diagnose and fix bugs. Data collected includes:

  • Device model, manufacturer, and screen resolution
  • Android OS version and app version
  • Crash stack traces (no image content or personal data)
  • App state and logs at the time of the crash
  • A random installation ID assigned by Firebase (not linked to your identity)

Firebase Crashlytics is a Google service. Data is processed under Google's privacy terms: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

2.4  Advertising Data (Google AdMob)

Free-tier users see rewarded and interstitial advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect the following to serve and measure ads:

  • Android Advertising ID (AAID) — a resettable device identifier
  • IP address and coarse location (country/region level)
  • Ad interaction events (impressions, clicks, reward completions)
  • Device type, OS version, and language settings

You can reset your Advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads at any time via Android Settings → Google → Ads. AdMob's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

2.5  In-App Purchase Data (Google Play Billing)

Premium subscription purchases are handled entirely by the Google Play Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We only receive a purchase confirmation token from Google to activate your Premium status within the app.

3

App Permissions

The following permissions are declared in our AndroidManifest and are used strictly for the purposes described:

Permission API Level Purpose
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES API 33+ (Android 13+) Access images from your gallery for compression or PDF creation
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE API 26–32 Access images on Android 8–12 for the same purpose
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE API 26–28 only Save compressed images and PDFs to device storage on Android 8–9

How We Use Information

We use the information collected only for the following purposes:

  • To provide and operate core app features (compression, PDF conversion)
  • To save your processing history locally on your device
  • To display advertisements to free-tier users
  • To diagnose crashes and improve app stability via Firebase Crashlytics
  • To verify and manage your Premium subscription status
  • To comply with applicable laws and Google Play policies

We do not sell, rent, share, or disclose your personal information to any third party for marketing, profiling, or advertising outside of the AdMob SDK described above.

6

Data Retention

  • Local app data (history, preferences) — retained until you clear app data or uninstall the app
  • Firebase crash data — retained by Google for 90 days per Firebase's standard policy
  • AdMob ad interaction data — retained by Google per Google's advertising data policies
  • Subscription status — maintained while your Google Play subscription is active

You can delete all local data at any time via Android Settings → Apps → ImagePress → Storage → Clear Data, or by uninstalling the app.

7

Third-Party Services

ImagePress integrates the following third-party SDKs and services. Each operates under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review:

ServiceProviderPurposePrivacy Policy
AdMob Google LLC Rewarded & interstitial ads View →
Firebase Crashlytics Google LLC Crash reporting & diagnostics View →
Google Play Billing Google LLC In-app subscription processing View →

We have no control over the data practices of these third-party services and are not responsible for their privacy policies.

8

Children's Privacy

ImagePress is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app displays advertisements that may not be appropriate for children, and the advertising SDK (AdMob) is not configured in child-directed mode.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the app in a way that resulted in data collection, please contact us at the email below. We will take prompt action to address the concern.

If your app targets children, additional steps (such as enabling AdMob's child-directed setting) would be required. This policy assumes ImagePress targets a general audience of users aged 13 and above.
9

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical safeguards to protect information associated with our app:

  • All image processing is local and on-device — no image data is transmitted
  • Crash data transmitted to Firebase is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
  • No user accounts or passwords are stored by ImagePress
  • Local app data is stored in the app's private storage sandbox, inaccessible to other apps

Despite these measures, no method of data transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security against all threats.

10

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your country or region (including the European Economic Area, California, and India under the DPDP Act 2023), you may have the following rights:

  • Access — Request information about data we hold or process
  • Correction — Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion — Request deletion of your data (local data can be cleared yourself)
  • Opt-out of personalised ads — Via Android Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation, or by resetting your Advertising ID
  • Withdraw consent — You may stop using the app and clear its data at any time
  • Portability — Request a copy of data we hold (crash metadata only, as no personal data is collected)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address below. We will respond within 30 days.

11

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, app features, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • Post a notice within the app where reasonably practicable

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of ImagePress after any changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

12

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

Any disputes arising from this policy will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in India.
